CCM in the Cloud & corporate social responsibility

How CCM in the Cloud contributes to more sustainable and socially responsible communication.

CCM in the Cloud & corporate social responsibility

Digitalisation

At CCM, we excel in digital communication. We know the market developments in digital communication, we have a network of partners in the chain, and we have the knowledge to set up and manage the entire communication process for our clients. And we do that in the Cloud.

Many organisations are in the middle of a digital transition and are constantly working to increase the digital adoption rate of their customer base. And we give them a hand with that.

CCM offers various ways to communicate digitally with customers, such as email, SMS, in-app communications, push notifications and the Berichtenbox message box. We have also integrated various digital features into our solution. For example, you can use CCM to send digital payment requests and to sign documents digitally.

Corporate social responsibility

Alongside digital communications, we still deal with a lot of communications on paper. As part of corporate social responsibility, we took stock among the Print Service Providers that are connected to CCM. We asked them what they do as an organisation to keep their impact as small as possible, and how they see the future.

For all the Service Providers we spoke to, their Corporate Social Responsibility policy is an important part of how they run their business. They invest in social return projects, for example by employing people who are at a distance from the labour market. They also support various local initiatives, deliver green as far as possible, use green electricity and offset CO2. One of the providers says: "With the CO₂ & Energy RI&E, we have made our CO₂ footprint measurable, and with this data we can focus on reducing our CO₂ footprint, not only for printing but for all our business activities."

Both inkjet printers and laser printers are used to print (transactional) communications. As for the ink, some use vegetable oil instead of petroleum-based oil, also known as bio-ink or eco-ink. The paper that is used comes from sustainably managed forests and carries a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) label. CO2-neutral paper is also used. This is paper for which the CO2 released, measured over the entire production chain, is offset. Completely white paper is often bleached. None of the providers holds a Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) label (yet), which shows that no chlorine (but often oxygen) was used for bleaching.

What the future brings

Asked which developments in the near future could help reduce their (environmental) impact, they say they expect printers and paper to become more and more environmentally friendly. They also see opportunities to make the transport that is needed more sustainable. One of the organisations says: "When we print, and so use paper, we use CO₂-neutral or recycled paper as much as possible, and we advise our customers on this."

We would like to warmly thank our Service Providers who helped us put this article together!
